Obesity Prevention Center (OPC)

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Obesity Prevention Center!

Established in 2004 as part of the Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Presidential Initiative, the University of Minnesota Obesity Prevention Center (OPC) provides leadership and coordination at the local, national, and international level for multidisciplinary research, policy, and education that focuses on understanding and responding to the pernicious epidemic of excessive weight gain and obesity.

Meet the Directors

Drs. Robert Jeffery, Mary Story, and Simone French have been diligently working this past year to get this center started. Their hard work has paid off: over forty investigators are now center members, center funds are being awarded for innovative, multi-disciplinary pilot studies, and the OPC and Center for Public Health Education and Outreach co-sponsored "Food Fight" roundtable discussion was well-received.
